Welcome to Lough corrib Guiding

At Lough Corrib Guiding, I offer guiding on Lough Corrib in County Galway, Lough Lene in County Westmeath, and Lough Sheelin in County Cavan. My services include fishing for wild brown trout and stocked rainbow trout on Lough Lene.

Additionally, I provide specialized guiding for salmon fly fishing on various rivers throughout Ireland.

I can accommodate two anglers per boat and can arrange for larger groups upon request.

Lough corrib

Lough Corrib, located in County Galway in the west of Ireland, spans 44,000 acres and is the second-largest freshwater lake in Ireland.

The fishing season on Lough Corrib opens on February 15th and closes on September 30th.

Fly fishing begins in earnest with the first hatch of Duckfly around Saint Patrick's weekend (mid-March), typically lasting up to two weeks. This is quickly followed by the olives, which offer excellent opportunities for dry fly and nymph fishing.

April marks the start of buzzer fishing, which can yield great catches and larger-than-average trout. In the last week of April, the Mayfly may start to appear under the right conditions, providing excellent dry fly fishing for free-rising trout and wet fly fishing in a nice wave.

In June, the arrival of the Caenis fly means early starts and casting your fly over large pods of feeding trout. Late evenings also offer good dry fly fishing to the sedge.

July sees the second hatch of Mayfly, which can produce superb fishing in favorable conditions.

August and September are ideal for dry fly sedge fishing and pulling wets out the deeps for daphnia-feeding trout, offering great sport.
